This class explores ekphrastic art—creating writing in response to other artworks—by using flash fiction, flash essay, and prose poetry to move from discussion and examples through collaborative-inspired prompts and exercises that develop short ekphrastic responses into completed pieces.

In this 90-minute mini online workshop, we’ll explore the three core nervous system states and how they shape your voice on the page and in performance. Using purposeful somatic practices, you’ll learn how to move out of shutdown, settle perfectionistic spirals, and make space for the story that wants to be told, whether privately in your writing practice or publicly in front of an audience.

The Artist’s Way for Busy Minds is a six-week, online experimental workshop for people who feel creatively stuck, distracted, overwhelmed, or disconnected from their inner voice. Rooted in the core practices of The Artist’s Way and The Artist’s Way Toolkit by Julia Cameron and thoughtfully adapted for our era of constant input, this workshop offers a gentle structure for reconnecting with creativity without pressure, perfectionism, or productivity.

Faye D’Avanza for Germination Station: Planning & Producing Creative Workshops, an eight-week series for arts-based entrepreneurs ready to launch or grow educational offerings. Toolshed sessions provide practical training on securing event space, pitching creative work, self-promotion, and marketing, while Tending gatherings—four artist dates inspired by The Artist’s Way—offer conversations with a community arts entrepreneur, guided discussion, and resource sharing to foster connection and accountability. Designed for Western North Carolina creatives across disciplines, and especially supportive of Story Parlor’s Inward & Artward Creative Facilitator graduates, Germination Station builds community while offering coaching, connection, and ongoing business support.
