“Breaking” Blocks
Breaking it down to break through…
Tuning into your reasons WHY is perhaps one of the most powerful things we can do as human beings. This awareness is at the center of everything I do, be it facilitating a workshop, working one-on-one with a client, or navigating my personal projects. For that reason, when working with myself and others, we often start with what’s in our way, and why it’s in our way. By breaking things down, we can discover more about our purpose, our habits, and our unique paths to breakthroughs and creative recovery.
Over the years, I’ve found the biggest repeat offenders have been…
Fear of...
failure
rejection.
starting over.
it being too late.
not having talent.
someone stealing your ideas.
being a one-hit or no-hit wonder.
someone else doing it better (and/or getting more credit).
not having the right resources or credentials.
no one understanding your work.
upsetting loved ones.
embarrassment.
being exposed.
change.
And also these common resistances...
Difficulty starting. Difficulty knowing where to stop. Difficulty coming up with ideas. Difficulty executing ideas. Perfectionism and/or unrealistic expectations. Comparison. Jealousy. Social media addictions. Managing time. Lack of time. Lack of motivation. Lack of discipline. Dealing with bad, engrained habits. Inability to connect with the joy in the process. Burn-out. Overwhelm and taking on too much/being spread too thin. Self-doubt. Self-sabotage. A relentless inner-critic. A lack of confidence. Shame. High expectations (of oneself and/or of others) and always feeling let down. Procrastination. Avoidance. Stage fright. Writers Block. Imposter Syndrome.
These are Big Issues, but guess what: they're often part of the process, and they're totally normal.
